About this product
Bat genotyping is a method used for the reliable identification of bat species from collected guano (faecal) samples. This is ideal for situations where bats cannot be visually identified and it also avoids the need to disturb individuals by trapping or capturing them. The method involves the extraction of DNA from the sample, amplification of a specific mitochondrial DNA target and then comparing its sequence to a reference database. In this way it is possible to discriminate between the 17 UK bat species (as well as vagrant species).
These kits are from ADAS and include everything required to collect and post up to four samples, including full instructions and a pre-paid return envelope. Analysis is purchased separately: choose from Standard (up to 10 days) or Fast Track (up to 5 days).
